Personal Training

If I’m new to the idea of fitness, is personal training right for me?

Personal Training is tailored around each individuals goals and needs. From toning up, gaining strength, or losing weight personal training can be right for anyone. We offer a fitness assessment and orientations to all new members to help you get acclimated to the gym environment. But to really get a jumpstart, personal training may be the answer for you.

How do I pick a personal trainer?

We can suggest a trainer that works at your particular location and/or specialized in your specific target result, or you can check out the trainer bios for each of the Bob’s Gym locations: WESTEASTNORTH, & NEWBURGH.

How can I be a part of the Bob’s Gym team?

If you are interested in being a part of the Bob’s Gym team, you may complete an application at one of our four convenient locations. Based upon your availability and our present needs, we will get in touch with you. Because we receive so many applications on a regular basis, if you have not heard back from us within two months, we recommend that you update your application with us.

Are you currently hiring at the present time?

Because of our steady growth, our staffing needs change on a consistent basis. If you are interested in pursuing a career with us, we recommend that you complete an application and drop it off at the closest Bob’s Gym location.

Aquatics & Swim Lessons

Can I have a pool party here for my child’s birthday?

We do offer pool party options here at Bob’s Gym. Along with private access to the pool, we include a selected movie on the projector, pizza, refreshments and a birthday cake. We make it an overall experience as we include banners, balloons and everything else you associate with a birthday bash!

If I’m an adult, are there any options for me to get swim lessons?

Although our group swim lessons are for the younger children, we do offer private lessons for people of all ages. Private lessons can be used for those just learning to swim or those looking to perfect stroke technique. As an adult just learning to swim, getting in the water can be the first hurdle. The experienced lifeguards/instructors will move at whatever pace works best for you.

Children

How old must you be to use the weight room?

Any person 14 years of age and older may use the weight room assuming that they have legally completed the waiver of liability. Children 11-13 years old must complete the Teen Weight Training Certification before use will be permitted. The class is free with a family membership and is offered each month at each location. You may sign up for the Teen Weight Training Certification class at the Front Desk.i.

How old must you be to use the pool?

Any person 11 years of age and older may use the pool when lifeguards are on duty. Children under 11 can swim without adult supervision with a lifeguard if he/she passes the Swim Safe Program. Sign up at the front desk for this free program. If a lifeguard is not on duty, children may swim with adult supervision.

Can anyone use the Kids Klub?

There is a Kids Klub available at all four of our locations. There is a minimal fee for use of the Kids Klub. For more information, please speak to the front desk staff or one of our friendly Membership Advisors.

Group Exercise

I have never done a group exercise class and I do not know the moves. Will I be lost the whole class?

Feeling uncomfortable is very common to a new experience. All instructors are certified and prepared to teach all fitness levels. Every member is welcome to the studio!

I have never lifted weights before and Group Power looks to difficult. What exactly is Group Power and can I still take the class?

Of course you can! Your Hour of Power is a full body resistance training class executed in 60 mins!
Each participant has an adjustable set of weights that can be used to maximize strength gains. Again all
fitness levels are welcome!

I am afraid that everyone will be looking at me. I am very uncoordinated and am afraid that everyone will laugh at me. Is this a common feeling and how do I get over it?

Remember that every participant is in the class to better their fitness level. You are so concerned with your movements that you rarely have time to check out those of other members! Please do not feel discouraged. The studio is a warm and welcoming environment. Give it a try!!!
